Creamware teapot, Leeds circa 1780. Inscribed “Jn & Eliz’th Wilkinson Newsham”, a village in North Yorkshire. Motto “I shall never happy be till my husband returns to me” – Possibly American war of Independence or another British Army conflict of that era. Possible marriage to John Wilkinson on 2 March 1778 at Kirkby Ravensworth. “John Wilkinson and Elizabeth Faucet both of Newsham in this parish, being upwards of the age of twenty one years each, were married in this Church within the canonical hours by publication of banns this second day of March one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight by me Henry Hall minister.”
