The Courtroom – circa 1780-1800

A satirical portrayal of a British court-room scene, circle of Tim Bobbin (John Collier). The script reads “A cross examination: (council) – Now fellow how far from the parties were you when the assault took place? (Witness) – Five feet and a half exactly. (Council) – Exactly, fellow! how do you know so exactly? (Witness) – Because I thought some fool would ask that question so I measured it”.
